General Information:

Isis Hathor is a Montreal based coven of Traditional Wicca (White Witchcraft) which grew out of a magickal study group which was founded in 2000 but that is based on much older European Traditions. Isis Hathor teaches Wicca as a spiritual mystery system emphasizing compassion, personal development, spiritual realization, and devotion to the Old Gods. In short, those qualities that are embodied in the terms: Perfect Love and Perfect Trust.

History:

The founding coven of our Tradition is Isis Urania which was established in Vancouver, Canada, in the early 1960s and subsequently moved to Toronto where it formed a number of daughter covens. Apollonius-Mithras, who eventually became our High Priest, was trained both by Janus-Mithras, High Priest of Isis Urania, and by Nuit-Hilaria and Mer-Amun, High Priestess and High Priest of Isis Faria.

In 2000 a group of friends began meeting at the home of Apollonius-Mithras (in Montreal, Quebec) and discussing Western Magick, Hermetica, the Golden Dawn, and Traditional Wicca as well as some Eastern Mystery systems. The desire to establish a Traditional Wicca coven arose out of these meetings, and Isis Hathor was formed in 2004.

Asherah, the current High Priestess of Isis Hathor, was initiated in 2004 and along with Apollonius-Mithras oversees the magickal training and magickal work of the Coven.  Since 2004, she has been elevated to the second and third degrees, making her a Holder of the Tradition.

Isis Hathor remains true to the Mystery religion focus of Traditional Wicca. Some of these teachings can be found on the articles page of this site. A more complete and indeed perfect account can be found in Wicca the Ancient Way (published both as a private edition and by Illuminet Press) by Janus-Mithras. This work is now out of print but can be obtained as a pdf by clicking the link above.

Coven Work:

Our Coven meets for the eight seasonal Sabbats and thirteen full moon Esbats as well as weekly classes.

Members are asked to be available to attend all the meetings.

Classes follow a formalized curriculum for pre-first degree, First Degree and for Second and Third Degree. Included in the training are Traditional Wicca, Qabalah, and World Mystery Traditions. As a note, Qabalah is not considered to be an add-on to the Tradition, but appears to derive from ancient Sumerian Goddess worship which is one of the sources of Traditional Wicca. As can be seen, training is designed to make the student ready for initiation into the Three Degrees.

There is no fee for the training, although those who can afford it will be asked to make a small monthly donation. There is no fee for initiation.

It has become popular for modern scholars and for modern occultists to state that Wicca is a revival and not an ancient lineage. We strongly believe that an ancient lineage exists and is embodied in the Traditional Wiccan teachings. Reference to historical indications of a Tradition can be found in the works of Margaret Murray, Gerald Gardner, and Raven Grimassi. Although Murray and Gardners' works have been questioned, we advise anyone who is interested to read their books with an open mind.

What we are looking for in a student is spiritual devotion, maturity, a willingness to learn and to grow no matter what personal challenges this entails, compassion, and enough organization to follow a regular curriculum of study and practice.

Application:

Currently we are offering training leading to Initiation to sincere students. As well as sincerity, a student will need to have a commitment to well-grounded and open-hearted personal ethics. In other words; a commitment to developing Perfect Love and Perfect Trust.

We offer a very complete curriculum of Traditional Wicca, Qabalah, Magic, and Mysticism as well as, of course, as devotion to the Old Gods. If, however, you are focussed on obtaining status and power, this is not the path for you.

The Coven is led by Asheerah the High Priestess and Apollonius-Mithras the High Priest and there is a degree structure. We meet for the eight Sabbats, thirteen Esbats (Full Moons) and for weekly classes. Because of these commitments, you will need to live in the Montreal area.

There is no fee for the training, although those who can afford it will be asked to make a small monthly donation.
